Long-Range Visioning Session to Kickoff FTP/SIS Update
We welcome you to attend the Future of Transportation in Florida event at the Omni in Jacksonville, Florida on May 6 and 7, 2019.
May 6 (1:00-5:00 pm) and 7 (8:30-11:30am): Vision Zero Workshop, co-hosted by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT, is an interactive opportunity to coordinate and align Vision Zero initiatives throughout the state to support the goal of a fatality-free transportation system. The emphasis of this workshop is to forge new strategies or reinforce effective strategies, including 4 Es (engineering, enforcement, education, and emergency services) and beyond. We encourage metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning councils, traffic safety officials, transportation mode representatives, and local government planning officials to participate. This will also serve as the launch of the Florida Strategic Highway Safety Plan refresh.
May 7 (1:00-5:00 pm): Long-Range Visioning Session, hosted by FDOT, is the kick-off to the 5-year update of the Florida Transportation Plan, the long-range transportation plan for all of Florida. This session will include interactive group activities to identify goals for Florida’s future, and will consider trends, system performance, emerging technologies, resilience, and other potential disrupters affecting transportation in Florida. We encourage safety organizations, metropolitan organizations, regional planning councils, local government planning officials, transportation mode representatives, environmental groups, economic interests, and anyone else interested in the future of Florida to attend. The FTP-SIS Steering Committee will participate as well.
